Dear Fuente Nueva Families,

We are excited to introduce an enhanced vision for our Expanded Learning Opportunities Program (ELOP) for
the 2026–27 school year and, especially, to welcome Maestra Enicia as our new ELOP Director!

Maestra Enicia has thoughtfully created a wonderful enrichment schedule that gives our students
opportunities to learn, create, move, explore, connect, and have fun after the regular school day. Her vision for
ELOP is rooted in our school mission and our commitment to Spanish, community, and the arts.
This program is designed both for families who need extended care and for students who would like to
participate in meaningful activities beyond the regular school day. Our goal is to make the hours after school
feel like an extension of the Fuente Nueva experience—not simply additional time on campus.
Expanded Learning Opportunities Program (ELOP)

We want to emphasize that our enrichment program is structured, intentional programming—not traditional
daycare. Students will participate in planned, supervised activities led by dedicated teachers and enrichment
instructors.

For Grades 1–5, students will be dismissed from their regular classrooms for check-in and snack from
2:45–3:15 PM. At 3:15 PM, students will be walked to their selected enrichment classes, which run from
3:15–4:15 PM. At the conclusion of enrichment, students may be picked up at the front check-out door.
For TK and Kindergarten, students will be walked directly to their enrichment class at 2:00 PM. Their
enrichment class will run until 2:45 PM, followed by snack time. Students will then be ready for pickup.
Families can explore the enrichment offerings and indicate their preferences by completing the online
enrollment form.

Three Pillars of our ELOP Program
Maestra Enicia has organized her vision for ELOP around three pillars that reflect the heart of our Fuente
Nueva community: language, art, and community.
Raíces en la Tierra — Roots in the Earth

Connecting children to nature, our school garden, farming, local ecology, food, sustainability, and the wisdom
of traditional and Indigenous agricultural practices.
Casa de Cultura — Culture & Creativity

Creating opportunities for students to explore art, storytelling, movement, theater, dance, traditions, and
creative expression, while celebrating the cultures and languages that make our community special.
Comunidad — Community

Building relationships, belonging, teamwork, sports, and meaningful connections throughout our Fuente
Nueva community. This includes opportunities such as sports and activities with coaches, as well as special
intergenerational experiences like Abuelo Storytime.

Together, these pillars reflect our belief that children thrive when they have opportunities to create, discover,
move, honor language and culture, connect with others, and develop a deeper relationship with the world
around them.

Cost & Access
Enrichment classes are $50 per class for one semester. We want these opportunities to be accessible to all of
our families, so free and reduced-rate options are available, and Changing Tides funding is accepted.
Families will be asked to select their first and second choices for enrichment classes. While we will do our very
best to accommodate every request, placement will depend on enrollment and class capacity. Our goal is to
place every student in their first or second choice whenever possible.

A Commitment to Success
Because these classes are structured enrichment experiences, we ask that families and students understand
that participation comes with shared expectations. Families will be asked to sign an ELOP Enrichment
Agreement outlining these expectations.
We want every child to be successful and every class to be a positive experience for students and teachers. If a

student is consistently unable to participate safely, respectfully, or successfully within the expectations of the
program, we may ask the student to take a break from the enrichment program.
This is not intended as a punishment. Rather, it is an opportunity to pause, reassess, and support the child,
instructor, and other students in creating a safe, respectful, and successful learning environment.
After Enrichment: ELOP Until 5:30 PM
For families who need care beyond the enrichment class, our regular ELOP activities will continue after
enrichment until 5:30 PM.
We do want to gently remind families that a longer school day can be challenging for our youngest students.
Young children often need more opportunities for sleep, rest, and unstructured downtime than our ELOP
programming can provide. For this reason, we do not recommend the full ELOP day until 5:30 PM for our
youngest children unless it is necessary for your family's schedule.
We encourage families to consider what will best support their child's individual needs, energy level, and
overall well-being.

A New Chapter for ELOP
We are incredibly excited about this next chapter of Expanded Learning Opportunities at Fuente Nueva. We
are grateful to Maestra Enicia for the creativity, care, and vision she has brought to this program, and we are
thrilled to welcome both our new and returning students into a year filled with opportunities to learn, play,
create, explore, and belong.

Casa de Cultura, Raíces en la Tierra, and Comunidad as part of our Expanded Learning Opportunities Program
