Alina Alishoev is the English Language Arts teacher. As a first-generation English speaker with parents from Russia, Alina’s first language was Russian. She grew up in the Bay Area as an English language learner during her early elementary years.

Alina is a Certified Children’s Yoga and Mindfulness Instructor and a Licensed Herbalist with a side tea business called Tea Hehe.

Alina is a mama of two young boys who she loves spending outdoor time with, swimming, hiking, gardening, camping, dancing, and traveling.

Alina moved to Arcata in 2009 to earn her BA from Cal Poly Humboldt, in Child Development with a minor in Recreation Administration in 2014. Subsequently, she obtained her Multiple Subjects Teaching Credential in 2016.

Throughout her teaching career, Alina has taught a wide range of grades. She opened and ran her own homeschool learning center and organized outdoor learning and yoga summer camps.

Alina has designed structured and engaging instruction that supports students at various developmental levels. Her approach incorporates exploring character, comprehension, and social-emotional themes. Students develop foundational skills in phonics, spelling, sentence structure, handwriting, and written expression. Alina encourages students to write and share from their own cultures while making connections to other global traditions.
